Speaking-up audit
Who contributed something nobody asked them for
answering a direct question does not countWhat the evidence supports, and what it does not
Well established: psychological safety is a real research construct, not a management fashion.
Project Aristotle examined 180 Google teams and found it the strongest predictor of team effectiveness.
The caveat: that work is observational and correlational, inside one large technology company.
What holds without a study: teams that withhold problems find out later, and later costs more.
Speak last in your own meetings. It is the single highest-return change here and the hardest, because you usually have a view already. This whole thing is decided in a handful of moments: the first time somebody disagrees with you in public, the first time somebody reports a mistake, the first time somebody says they are struggling.
Count only unprompted contributions: something they raised that nobody asked them for. The total colours itself, and zero turns red. Saves in this browser only, which matters because this one names colleagues.
Prefer paper? Download the blank sheet as a PDF. The thinking behind it is in The Room.
General guidance from practice, not legal, HR, or financial advice. Everything you type stays in this browser and is never sent to a server; clearing site data removes it.
